Die Arbeit “Panmax” wurde für die Barlach-Halle im Kunsthaus Hamburg konzipiert. Die Form ist eine im Fünfeck laufende Röhre mit einer Öffnung in einem der Schenkel. Das Pentagon ist so in die Halle eingepaßt, daß es das Durchqueren der Halle blockiert. Zwei der fünf Ecken berühren die Wand beziehungsweise eine Säule, und man kann nur durch einen schmalen Durchgang neben der Säule auf die andere Seite der Arbeit gelangen; und so das Innere betreten.
Die Röhre ist aus einem Gerüst aus Dachlatten konstruiert und mit dünnen Sperrholzplatten verkleidet. Im Innern befindet sich zwischen zwei Ecken des Fünfecks ein Rotor, der hinter Gittern gelegen, geräuschvoll dreht.

“panmax” was conceived for the Ernst-Barlach Hall in the Kunsthaus Hamburg. The walkable sculpture is a tube running pentagonally with an opening on one side. The pentagon is fitted into the hall so that it obstructs the latter completely. Two of the five angles touch the wall respectively a column, so that only a small passage is left next to the column to reach the other side of the tube and the opening to its interior.

The tube is construed out of a framework of construction wood revetted with light plywood plates. Located between two angles an engine rotor turns noisily behind bars in the inside producing a deep humming tone.
